Floors

The law states that all floors must be “Fit for purpose”, but 90% of all hard floors fail to meet the Health & Safety Executives minimum standards for slip resistance, when wet or contaminated.

Do your floors meet these standards? If not, then you could be liable to civil action, criminal prosecution and damage to your reputation. As society becomes ever more litigious, and the authorities more stringent, the problem is only going to get worse.

Unfortunately ignorance and ‘we didn't know it was slippery’ is no defence in the eyes of the law. The duty of care is upon you to know the risks, assess your floors, and to take action where necessary. The law is there to protect against incident and injury in the first place, not to react following them.

Steps and Ramps

Building Regulations and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) require that ALL internal and external steps and ramps have a non slip surface. Also the nosings of all steps must be of a "permanently contrasting colour". Only SkidProof can achieve this requirement without the need for tapes.
